Hey all.

I've hijacked someone's internet for a bit as I need a bt of help with regards to an error on a friends computer. I switched it on and ran some basic clean up programs on it... but didn't go near the Registry or anything that could cause any problems.

I tried to switch it on again this evening and have found that there is no power going to ANY of the ports on the back of the Mobo.

I remembered that the last couple of times i'd tried to switch it on, it had bought up a message telling me that the processor had been changed and the clock on the motherboard needed resetting.

Now, I think this is due to the battery on the motherboard being dead... but I wanted to get others opinions before going ahead with anything and changing the battery. It won't do it any harm to stick a new battery in it even if its not the battery that is causing the problem, but I'm going to have to go and buy a new battery which is a fair old hike just for a battery only to find its not the battery that is the problem.

Hope someone here can help

Cheers!

Trail and error, strip the PC to the core comps and see what happens.

Could well be the battery.

It wasn't the battery unfortunately... Haven't had a chance to strip it down properly but I will be having another look next weekend and seeing whats going on as it's still doing it.

I'm inclined to say it's screwed... and get him to get a new one.

My PC also does this now and again when I'm changing over hard ware parts, it will refuse to boot up! No power etc etc. As I said before, I strip it to bare minimum, it boots and then I start adding in all teh parts bit by bit. Good luck!
